social justice

In our social justice hurumanu, we have learned about equity and how racist people can be and what would do to make a difference.

My first community has experienced racism and unfairness. Terry is a police officer who got stopped by another police officer just for being black. I feel like Terry has experienced a lot of racism throughout his childhood and more. i think that they want us to know that dont judge a book by its cover cause when you judge someone before getting to meet them. I think that it was a good thing that Terry reported it to his boss because he wanted them to know that you shouldn't judge people before getting to know them.

My next community is zenabs writing. Zenab has experienced hate, been called names and she was ashamed of who she was. Zenab had enough people coming at her with jokes which were supposed to be funny but were not. Zainab has also experienced people abusing their culture. They want us to know the pain and suffering she has been thrown into because of people abusing and joking about their culture. I think that she should have told them to stop and told them that they are being racist and they don't even know that.

dawn raids.

In the 1950 85% of Pacific islander has suffer from cops who came to house after house dragging people who weren't New Zealand citizens. in the dawn raids people would run for their life if they got caught or would hide. Little kids have experienced their parents, grandparents, aunties and uncle being taken away from their home. jacinda adern had gone through a traditional samoan way of apologising for the dawn raids. i think it was a wise choice for jacinda ardern to apologize for the government's wrong.

i want people to know that racism isn't good and that you should respect other peoples culture and dont joke about them anyhow.i think that you should think of people lives and dont judge people before getting to know them.

Electricity

1.

2.

3.what is the different and the series circuit: in all series circulates all electrons pass through one path in a parallel circuits the electrons spill ways and go down to the different branches.

4. what is voltage and current in a circuit?voltage comes from the battery, it changes the speed of the electrons travelling, current like the flow of the electrons

5. explain why a string of Christmas tree light would be parallel not series: because all the balls are connected to one loop and if one of them breaks the whole this breaks.

Volleyball

My skills before we started the unit weren't that good; it was like learning something new.

My volleyball skills now are very good. I feel like I'm better than before.

A specific skill that you can use in a volleyball game is a set.

The hardest thing in volleyball is angling where the ball goes.

The thing I like the most about volleyball is spiking.

If I am doing p.e next year I would like to work on my spiking.

Calypso

Listening to this song reminds me of the times I've had in Tonga. The music just rhymes with my imagination. The song has no words but beats, it sounds like Mexican music, the beat and everything just goes with the Mexican music.

Simile:

This one girl's voice sounds like a dying cat when she sings. Her voice just cracks and her tune is just, ugh off like I would rather listen to this song 10x then hearing her sing.

schooner

Schooner has a sailing ship rigged with fore-and-aft sails on its two or more masts

Schooner - Wikipedia

as you can see a schooner looks like it has a cross on it and things that i dint know the name of it.

if i was sailing on a schooner and looking out into the view i would stand in the middle and i would see lots of fish (if there are) and i would hear the wave splashing into the boat.

total cases per million.

Hello, readers today I was working on creating a graph about the total cases per million
.

hello, readers today I'm going to tell you what happens in the first earthquake.

In 2010 witch was 10 years ago the first Christchurch earthquake happened on 4 September 2010 4:35am. It took place in the west of Christchurch near the town of Darfield,185 ancient people
died because of the earthquake. what caused the earthquake to happen is that  It was caused by right-lateral movement along a previously unknown regional strike-slip fault in the western section of the Canterbury Plains. many places and object were distorted. 46 people were injured.

Malo e lelei today I'm going to showing you what is the data.

Convection and conduction are both types of heat transfer where energy is passed from hot to cold.

When an object is heated up, the particles in it start moving faster as they gain energy.these particles also try to spread out as the gaps between particles get bigger.

if an object is heated from one end, the particles can transfer heat along. This is conduction.

some objects are good at passing on heat- these are called thermal conduction-

objects which are bad at passing thermal insulators.

  • conduction -  transferred through contact.

  • thermal insulators - do not pass on heat.

  • thermal conduction can pass on heat.

  1. curtains

  2. insulting-pink baits

  3. blankets

  4. polar fleece

convection- non contact energy transfer, usually in liquid

as heated particles expand and move faster they also rise up. As this occurs colder particles sink because they are more dense(as particles are closer together).

this process continues eventually the whole liquid would get heated up.

this movement is called convection currents

It can also be seen in air, as warmer air is less dense and rises.

  • convection-non contact heat transfer. hot stuff rises, cold stuff sinks.

tea bag rockets .

what happend to the tea bag?
  • the teabag was lit on fire and they spread out into the air because is was hot but when it was cold it came down.

the marshmallow animation thingy-

In 2021 may 31 Monday period 4 (today) we learned about filtering. Hello my name is sita and today we are learning about filtering, this is what is means

filtering-separating different sized particles out of a mixture.

Aim: make salution and to saparate a solution from a precipitae.(preciptate is the name for a solid that forms in a liquid during a chemical reaction)

hypothesis: i think its gonna explode.

Method:

1. Pour approximately 50mL of copper sulfate solution into a beaker.

2. Add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will happen, you should see a cloudy blue precipitate form. Called copper carbonate.

3. Watch demo then fold filter paper to fit inside the funnel

4. Place the funnel with the filter paper inside of it, into the mouth of a conical flask.

5. Stir the mixture in the beaker, then carefully pour it into the funnel.

6. Observe what happened.

types of energy

red: the 8 types of energy.
black: what it is.
blue: example.

we are learning about types of energy and energy transformation

1.Heat Energy.
-produced by the movement of particles quickly.
  • When the burner of a stove top is very hot, it is a source of heat energy

2.Kinetic Energy.
-allows  anything to move.
  • walking, falling, flying, and throwing.

3.Sound Energy.
-anything you heat.
  • Sound energy is produced when an object vibrates, which results in noise.

4.Light Energy.
-from x-rays to visible light.
  • Sunlight is the best example for light energy.

5.Electrical Energy.
found in anything that uses electricity.
  •  electrical energy to charge our phones, and our muscles using electrical energy to contract and relax

6.Elastic Potential Energy.
-found in stretched things.
  • The coil spring of a wind-up clockAn archer's stretched bowA bent diving board, just before a divers jump.

7.Chemical Potential Gravity.
-found in chemicals (food).
  • A raised weight, water that is behind a dam, a car that is parked at the top of a hill

8.Gravitational  Energy
-found in objects high off the ground.

food tech

Hi blog readers, today I am going to be telling you what I did on Friday.

hello on friday period 4 i made a chocolate slice cake and i didnt go well.

What we did was Preheat the oven to 175°C then grease and line a rectangular slice tin (19cm x 29cm) with baking paper.

Beat Tararua Butter, Chelsea Soft Brown Sugar, egg and vanilla in a bowl. Sift in Edmonds Standard Grade Flour, Edmonds Baking Powder and cocoa and mix well, stir in coconut.

Spread mixture into tin and bake for approx. 20-25 minutes or until firm.

Remove from the oven and spread with Rich Chocolate Icing while the slice is still hot, then sprinkle with extra coconut. Allow to cool before cutting - slice should be slightly chewy.

Chelsea Chocolate Icing

Measure Chelsea Chocolate Icing into a bowl, add Tararua Butter and hot water, mix well until smooth. Icing should spread easily, if it is too thick add a little more hot water to allow it to spread well.

Do Now Week 9 :)

I 100% agree with this statement.

why? Because I feel like people should not be embarrassed speaking in front of people.

because people should have the confidence to speak and pronounce words without struggling.

Do now week 8

Yes i totally agree.

I think that matariki should be public holiday because it's part of people's culture.

Matariki is Maori new years and people should know because it's part of their culture

English is the most important subject to learn in school

I don't agree that English is the most important subject to learn in school.

I think English is not the most important subject to learn in school because it doesn't help with anything, it just teaches you how to pronounce and spell.

there other subjects better than English cause it can help with your stuff.

chromatography

Pigments are substances that give colour to things. They are used to give colour to all sorts of things like felts, paint, plastic, food, fabric, even animals and plants.

AIM- To separate the different pigments from ink using chromatography

HYPOTHESIS- What do you think will happen to your felt pen dot? What pigments do you think you will see? What will happen to the dot on the paper?

EQUIPMENT- Felt tip pen, filter paper strips, test tube, measuring cylinder, pencil.

method.

1- Draw a line across the filter paper in pencil, 5cm from the bottom.

2- Draw a coloured dot in the centre of the line.

3- Measure out 10mL of water and place in the test tube.

4- Place the filter paper in the test tube and fold over the side. MAKE SURE THE PENCIL LINE/ DOT IS NOT IN THE WATER.

5- Wait for 5 minutes and observe the results.

RESULTS- add a photo of your chromatography to your blog.

DISCUSSION-

When we did our chromatography experiment, we were trying to separate the pigments that make up the different felt pen ink colours.

-The pigments separate because each pigment has a different solubility (some dissolve more than others), which means some of them move faster and further than others.
